Walk the Walk............in humility!

The title really says everything, but really most people think "Oh I am humble, I do not need to read on". Well that just shows maybe you are really not as humble as you perceive yourself to be. There has been many times I have missed my Blessing because I chose to tune it out, or listen, but only to automatically think of someone else the message applied to. On my walk I am still learning to walk in humility and God always ensures to humble me now when I become boastful, because really it is not about us...it is all about Him.

There are quite a few scriptures that have humility and becoming humble in God's word. Where I would like to start is Ephesians 4:1-6 (NIV):

"1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all"

Yes it's easy to see God wants us to be humble, gentle, and to walk in love. The scripture appealed to me more because it talks about the body being one, having unity, having a unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. You cannot walk in love and be humble without unity, becoming one body, only then will you be able to be open to receive revelation. Nothing came easy to me in life, but once I found unity in Christ and became into the body with others I found complete peace and was able to see where God wanted me. In your church, or Bible Study if there is not unity there will be no peace, no humility, and without humility and peace there is strife. Our walk with God does not need to be complicated: Stop taking offense to everything, stop gossiping, respect the elders in your congregation, and trust in the Lord.

That leads us right into our next scripture: 1 Peter 5:5-7 (NIV):

"5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
"God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble."
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

So 1 Peter 5:5-7 is confirming that we are to stand in unity, submit yourself to elders, and clothe yourself in humility because God opposes the proud. When we are proud and boastful we do not "see" things the way God wants us to. He wants us to love, serve, and show others through ourselves how amazing He is. See God cannot be visibly seen with our eyes (see Colossians 1:15), so He needs us to be His visible representation. If we are proud and boasting about what we have done, we lose focus on what He is doing. We should never get the Glory or Praise for God's miracles. If you want to see how God handles those who take credit for His miracles and good works read about what happened to Belshazzar in Daniel 5:22-24.

Maybe you have been having a hard time walking in humility lately, maybe you just want to make sure you are always walking according to His instructions, let's stand together in affirmation and pray:

"Father God I come to you today giving you all of my pride, I want to be humble, gentle, and walk sharing the love you have shown me. You live in me God, I want your image to reflect in everything I do Lord. I Praise You God, I Worship You God, and I will walk in humility God. Thank you for your graciousness Father God. I Love You Lord God. Amen"
